Bank of Melbourne abolishes ATM withdrawal fees
Sunday, 24 September 2017
Bank of Melbourne today announced that non- Bank of Melbourne customers will no longer be charged an ATM withdrawal fee when they use one of Bank of Melbourne’s ATMs. This also includes non-Westpac Group customers using Westpac, St.George and BankSA ATMs.
Westpac Group Executive, Consumer, George Frazis said that this is a logical extension of the benefits Westpac, St.George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA customers have obtained for a number of years when using the Group’s different branded ATMs.
“We want all Australians, whether they are Westpac Group customers or not, to benefit from one of Australia’s largest ATM networks.
“This will make it more convenient for millions of Australians to conveniently obtain cash, with no additional fees. It will particularly assist Australians in rural and regional areas.
“We understand that the ‘foreign ATM’ fee has been deeply unpopular with consumers. Along with our new low interest credit card as well as removing teller sales incentives, Westpac is listening and responding to consumer concerns,” Mr Frazis said.
The removal of this fee will not apply to customers using overseas cards.
This change is effective from 5 October 2017.
