Balance transfer terms and conditions

BT Request Form

These Terms and Conditions apply to our processing of any Balance Transfer(s) you request:

  • Your Balance Transfer request (“BT request”) will not be processed unless your current credit card provider accepts BPAY payments. You can check your credit card statement for your payment options
  • We will seek to process the BT request(s) in the order listed in your Balance Transfer request form, however in some scenarios this may not occur (for example, if there is a delay in processing one request, we will seek to process subsequent requests first)
  • The maximum Balance Transfer amount that we can process is 80% of your available credit limit at time of processing the BT request
  • Each Balance Transfer must be at least $200, and must be from non-Bank of Melbourne, St.George or BankSA credit cards or store card accounts issued in Australia ("Other Card Account(s)"). We do not accept BT requests from Business or Commercial cards, any loans or overdrafts
  • Any promotional Balance Transfer rate will be applied as per the relevant promotion, as specified on the card application page (as at the date you applied)
  • Your Card's variable Cash Advance interest rate applies to any amount of the transferred balance(s) that remains unpaid in full at the end of the specified promotional rate period
  • The applicable Balance Transfer interest rate will accrue on amounts transferred from the date the transfer is debited to your card account
  • A Balance Transfer fee of 2% of the value of the transferred balance(s) will be charged unless we specify a lower or no Balance Transfer fee at the time of your application for a Balance Transfer. Any Balance Transfer fee will be charged to the Card Account on the day the balance(s) is debited to the account
  • Payments made to your Bank of Melbourne credit card account, including any Balance Transfer amount, will be applied as set out in the Bank of Melbourne Credit Cards Terms and Conditions. To be entitled to an interest free period on your Purchase Balance (where applicable), you need to pay the 'Monthly Payment Balance' shown on your statement by the due date each month
  • Interest is calculated on transferred amounts (and any Balance Transfer fees) at the Balance Transfer promotional rate. At the end of any stated special promotion period, any remaining Balance Transfer amounts (including interest and fees) will be subject to the variable cash advance rate
  • Bank of Melbourne will not cancel your other Card Account(s). If your aim is to pay down your balances and reduce the number of credit cards you hold, it may be helpful to cancel your other card account(s) once. Bank of Melbourne will not be responsible for any overdue payment or interest incurred on your Other Card Account(s).

These Balance Transfer Terms and Conditions should be read in conjunction with your Card Terms and Conditions, which (where relevant) also apply to the balance transferred.
