Do you have at least $100 remaining each month after covering your expenses?

Have you paid all your bills and loans on time in the last 12 months?

Without a steady and reliable income, we’re unlikely to approve your application. Consider applying when your circumstances change.

As part of your application, Bank of Melbourne makes enquiries with credit reporting bodies. The enquiry will go on your credit file and could affect future credit applications with other institutions. While these questions will give you an indication of approval, credit card applications are still subject to a full assessment against Bank of Melbourne’s credit criteria.

A final check that this is the right credit option for you. Credit cards are a secure payment method for short-term borrowing needs such as everyday purchases or unplanned expenses, with some cards offering additional features like rewards. However, there are instances where it might be worth considering another form of credit:

  • You have a longer-term or specific borrowing need, like a car or home renovations. In this case, view our Personal loans
  • You want a repayment schedule with fixed repayments and a defined loan end-date. In this case, view our Personal loans
