Banking Code of Practice

Bank of Melbourne is committed to upholding the Australian banking industry’s standards of practice and service contained in the Banking Code of Practice (the Code).

The Code sets out the standards of practice and service in the Australian banking industry for individual and small business customers, and their individual guarantors. It requires banks to meet higher standards of ethical behaviour, fair and responsible lending and provide greater protections for customers. Where it applies, the Code is a legally binding agreement between Bank of Melbourne and our customers.

We are proud to have worked with the industry to develop the new Code which introduces a range of measures to make banking products easier to understand and more customer-focused.

This version of the Code took effect from 28 February 2025 and replaces the 2019 Banking Code of Practice. The 2019 Code will continue to apply to certain agreements entered into before 28 February 2025.

You can view a copy of the Banking Code of Practice on our website or contact us for assistance. Visit our Contact Us page for more ways to get in touch. Download a brochure with more information about the customer benefits of the Code in English or other languages.

Further information on the Code can be found on the Australian Banking Association’s website.
